Lubbock is a Cold Desert.

I was recently driving around Lubbock doing random college-y things (buying plastic cups, monster and ping pong balls) when Cold Desert by The Kings of Leon came up on my ipod. If you don't live in west Texas you don't understand, but Lubbock is a cold dry place. I'm pretty sure its the only place in the country where you can get a Haboob (huge sandstorm for those laughing at a word with 'boob' in it) and a blizzard within about 3 months of eachother. The song reminds me of those hours right before a party or event where most people just hang out and prep for the insuing insanity, the calm before the storm. To be honest there isn't much to do in Lubbock unless you're working, studying, or partying, so there's some empty time where you just have to find things to do or sit and think, hopefully not even more about school. It's a good thing to have empty time, college kids get overworked, and not only from school but from social stuff. Every once in a while you just gotta kick back and play some tunes or something so you don't go crazy. Work hard, play harder, and keep on jammin'

Well, this is the first entry of my accidentally self-imposed blogging career, and I don't quite know how to start this, so I'll go ahead and explain why I'm doing this. This blog is the whimsical result of my Tech. Writing professor Dr. Schafer, who's benign wrath I seem to have brought upon myself by, oddly enough, asking for help. Seems like an odd way to teach huh? Asking a strung out college student to write about his frantic dealings during the craziest time of anybodies life. But, it can't be helped, and since I got myself into this by being afraid of writing, I might as well waltz right in, ignorantly arrogant of what it means to be a blogger.
